What I Learned On My Sabbatical

Not everyone gets a sabbatical. I was lucky, blessed and privileged to have one. There was no blinding mountaintop moment during my sabbatical. And I have some reflections on how sabbath time can feed one’s soul. How the intention of a sabbath can help. In this long time of pandemic and exhaustion sabbath may be part of what helps you get through, helps you to hang in through what seems impossible.

Listen to Your Calling

Times like these call us to step up, even though that is hard/ Frederick Buechner once wrote “Your vocation in life is where your greatest joy meets the world’s greatest need.” Finding your calling is a process of listening to what your greatest joy is and what is the world’s greatest need. One you do that the next step can be easy to see. But how does one listen for one’s calling?

Possibility is a Two Edge Sword

The past 19 months and longer have been hard.  But we have the chance to make a real change.  We have a chance to create a new normal.  Change is possible and what does that mean?  Possibility is often viewed as a positive in our society and it is positive usually.  And we have to be open to possibility we have to let go of that which blocks possibility.

How Will We Choose Hope

This Sunday we will gather together, virtually and celebrate our coming back together through our annual water celebration. Rev Jennifer will preach about Hope. Hope is not something that finds us – it is something that we go looking for. How will we choose hope in this new world we find ourselves in.
