Alternatives to Violence Program

This service will introduce the community to the philosophy and some of the experiential practices of the Alternatives to Violence Project–a nonviolent communication and conflict-resolution program developed by Quakers and incarcerated persons in Greenhaven Prison in the 1970s. Coran Klaver is a newly-trained AVP facilitator working with AVP New York and the ACTS Community Violence and Youth Task Force to bring AVP programming to Syracuse city youth. There service will be both information and interactive, incorporating some of the opening activities of a Basic AVP workshop.
