Can perseverance really win? A river cuts through a rock not because of its power but it persistence. Perhaps win and lose is the wrong metaphor. Persistence will change the world just as a river cuts through rock. In this sermon we will look at some of the heroes in our tradition who have made the world a better place for LGBTQ justice.
We want to do better we really do. But dreams sometimes can be greater than our capacity. My mother used to tell me that my eyes were bigger than my stomach (a scary thought to a 5 year old). And I have found that creating an intention does not always make it so.How can we move from intention to action and use intentions to help ourselves and help others.
James Luther Adams wrote about the 5 smooth stones of liberalism. We UUs tend to think of the five smooth stones as foundational to our faith to our movement. As I have talked with folks this past year, and led this congregation it has become clear to me that the hope that Adams wrote about is essential for the work that we do.
