Most Americans who know of the Hindu festival Divali know it as the “festival of lights”. But it plays a key role is a series of Hindu celebrations every fall that focus on family welfare. Anthropologist Susan Wadley who lived in India for some 5 years explores this sequence with us.

We explore two examples: how our congregation responded to zoom and the new on line coffee hour and how a few people on the west side organized to help their neighbors, creating Shoppes at Strathmore to provide food and more for those locals in need. We hope that these inspire all of us to work toward community building as we all so slowly move toward a different future.
