Side with Love

“What if to “side with love” meant making bold, faith-full choices? What if it were even a little bit scary? This worship service brings together worship leaders and musicians from across the country to offer hopeful, moving, challenging reminders about what we, as Unitarian Universalists, are called to do, and BE, in the world.

As UUs we are called to side with love, to show up for justice, to help bend the arc of history toward justice.  This Side With Love Sunday worship service will lift up these themes: Living our values, Hospitality & inclusion, Educating for Liberation, and Restoration and reparations. This worship service will invite UUs into life-giving and sometimes uncomfortable reflection about how privilege can cause harm, and what we can do to instead be agents of change, and of healing.”

At the end of the service, we will have breakout rooms facilitated by your staff where we will begin a conversation about anti-racism work at First UU. Some of the questions we will consider are

  • Where do you feel you are in your work toward being an anti-racist and an ally?
  • Why should First UU be doing anti-racism work?
  • Where would you like First UU to be in 5 years in regards to anti-racism work?
  • What kind of a process might you like to see First UU engage in around anti-racism work?
  • What might be some next steps?
