COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION: NOMINATING COMMITTEE

CHARGE: To prepare a slate of candidates for officers, members of the Board of Trustees, and members of the Nominating Committee as specified in Articles VI, VIII, and X of the Constitution of the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Syracuse.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. The first meeting is to be convened by the Clerk of the Society no later than four months after the Annual Meeting. At this meeting the committee shall choose a chairperson from among its members to serve for the balance of the year.

2. The committee may be called upon to suggest candidates to the Board of Trustees to fill vacancies that occur during the year.

3. The selection of candidates for nomination shall be in accordance with the Constitution of the Society and consideration should be given to proper background and experience. All candidates must be members of the Society.

4. Insofar as possible the slate of candidates shall be completed in time for the Nominating Committee report to be included with other reports to be made available prior to the Annual Meeting.

MEMBERS: A total of five. Four are elected at Annual Meetings and one is appointed annually by the Board of Trustees from its members.

TERMS OF OFFICE: The elected members shall serve for staggered three year terms. One is elected in each of two years and two in the third year. The appointed member shall serve for one year. No person shall serve on the committee for more than one consecutive term
