WHY:

Do you wonder what “being a UU” means? When asked by your uncle Carl what do UUs believe anyway do you stumble over your answer? Are you wondering if you really know your own values and beliefs? Do you sometimes want to talk in more depth with others about UUism.

You’re not alone in your wondering. We have heard many times from adults at May Memorial and First UU how they want a deeper understanding of UUism and a deeper understanding of their own faith.

And we have an amazing opportunity for YOU!

Rev. Jo and Rev. Jennifer will lead a group for adults entitled “Claiming Our UU Past and Shaping Our Future”. The group will meet once a month October 2019 – May 2020. It will include UU history, UU beliefs, UU values with a lens toward multiculturalism and anti- oppression.

This group will help you understand UUism better and will help you clarify your own beliefs and values. And the best part? It will culminate in a group trip to General Assembly, the annual meeting of the UUA, a gathering of thousands of UU’s in ONE place!

General Assembly will be in Providence Rhode Island, June 24-28 2020 and we would like to take a group of folks from both congregations to experience what GA has to offer, there will be a cost for this trip.

If you have ever heard our Coming of Age youth give their credos and thought “I’d like to learn more”, or if you have heard the Coming of Age trip to Boston and thought “I’d like to do something like that” then Claiming Your UU Identity is for you.
It is possible to be part of this group and not attend GA. Going to GA is a wonderful opportunity and we know that not all people can make that work for them.
